PhD studies have at least 180 ECTS credits, with the previous total of at least 300 ECTS credits during the undergraduate and graduate academic studies, or 360 ECTS credits in the integrated academic studies of Medical Sciences. Doctoral dissertation is the final part of the doctoral studies curriculum, except for the PhD in Arts which is the part of the Art studies curriculum.
Diploma – Scientific name: Students are awarded the title Doctor of Science – Industrial Engineering / Engineering Management
Enrolment conditions for the studies curriculum: Only those students who achieved 300 or 360 ECTS credits during their previous academic studies can enrol doctoral studies. The studies provide students with certain number of ECTS credits, and the doctoral dissertation is credited with 30 ECTS points. There is the possibility of choosing elective courses.
The curriculum is designed to enable students to acquire knowledge, skills and competences not only in engineering and management but also in the systems and engineering management, which qualify them as waste management experts.
The subjects included in the PhD studies curriculum offer scientific knowledge necessary for independent research work. In addition, knowledge in the field of waste management provides students with high-level specialized qualification for practical work in the field of technical and technological sciences, industrial engineering and engineering management.
Doctoral studies curriculum consists of three compulsory subjects, four elective courses (students choose four out of eight offered courses). Besides, the curriculum includes two study research papers, one study research project and one scientific research project.
Based on the curriculum designed in this way, a student is capable of doing a study-research work, which is the part of the curriculum aimed at elaborating the doctoral dissertation objective and thesis. After defending the study-research paper and after the paper has been publicly accepted, a student can prepare and defend doctoral dissertation, which is the most important part of the studies curriculum.
The method of studies: The studies are performed in the standardized way in both Serbian and English.
In the implementation of doctoral studies in Management, the Faculty of Engineering Management singles out and clearly defines three basic purposes of this study program: development of science; education; development of professional staff.
The faculty starts from the position that the subsystems of science, education and the world of work are intertwined domains. The constructions of knowledge and beliefs, which belong to the domain of science, play a significant role in the research and practice of education. A student will not receive an adequate education if he cannot think independently and apply critical analysis. Doctoral education should produce critical examination, theoretical knowledge, but also practical knowledge. Through learning processes, which include critical research, scientific and practical knowledge is reached, as an outcome of learning.
Doctoral studies play an important role in creating a scientific youth and teacher base for the development of competence of higher education institutions. Taking into account the scientific field and the area from which the studies are conducted, one purpose of the study program is to develop scientists who will successfully design, analyze and implement scientific research, that is, find solutions for scientific and research topics and problems that arise in the process of systems management.
In relation to the development of future teaching staff, the purpose of the study program is to encourage talents in certain segments of management. Through the realization of doctoral studies, the Faculty of Engineering Management will create personnel capable of applying and developing new professional tools and methods in management based on science-based knowledge and critical reasoning and analysis.
The purpose of this study program contributes to the development of social humanities, the scientific field of management and business, through the education of competent experts, capable of independently conducting original, scientifically relevant, current and internationally verifiable scientific research in the field of management; the purpose is to support the development of students' critical thinking, and to enable them to critically evaluate the scientific research of others, to create innovative solutions based on their own and team research work.
This study program focuses on research topics that, apart from the clear and all-pervading guiding idea of the incorporation of the latest knowledge from management, are more specifically related to: Talent management (due to the importance of analyzing trends from practice in managing people in the organization under the influence of Industry 4.0 and adapting to the conditions business in different organizations); Strategic management (due to the topicality of methods, techniques and concepts of strategic management and its application in practice); Organization of business processes (application of advanced methods and techniques of business process design); Corporate security (necessities of security operations and activities in the sphere of corporate management); Entrepreneurial management (due to the actuality and potential for the development of entrepreneurship and the implementation of innovations); Digitization of business (importance of digital transformation and business model innovation); Corporate communications (the importance of effective communication in a business environment); Quality management (due to the importance of improving the performance of the organization and achieving effective improvements in the quality management system and the organization as a whole); Management in the defense industry (activities in the sphere of raising the level of corporate security in the dedicated industry as one of the most important factors of the defense industry); Management of knowledge (the importance of building a knowledge management system in modern business); Management of Industry 4.0 (due to the importance of applying methods and techniques for quality management within Industry 4.0);
The purpose of the study program is in accordance with the mission and goals of the Faculty.
